Kieran at 2 months

What Kieran has been up to:

Growing...Aunt Mariah gave Kieran this adorable outfit. His body exploding out of it was my sign that it was time for 3-6 month clothing.

Kieran even outgrew his bassinet. He is now in his crib in his room. He still amazes us with his sleep when we compare him to Caden and Cole. A typical night includes a five-hour stretch of sleep followed by a feeding and another 3-hour stretch of sleep. BUT in the last week, Kieran has had a couple nights of 7-8 hours of sleep! Woo hoo!

Playing...Kieran seems partial to giraffes. He is spending more time on his playmat. He is trying hard to grab his toys and has occasional luck.

Napping...While Kieran loves to be cuddled, he will nap in his swing or pack-n-play. Here are Papa, Kieran, and Mia resting and watching football.

"Talking"...Kieran is cooing, making other noises, and attempting to imitate us. He tries and sometimes succeeds in imitating our tongue clicks and raspberries and sticking out tongues.

Here are a couple of Kieran's 2-months photos.

Big smile for Daddy!

At his 2-month check-up, Kieran weighed 13 pounds, 2 ounces and was just shy of 24 inches long.

I had to include this photo of the big boys and Mia. Mia found a warm spot on a cool weekend morning.

Cole at Preschool

After Labor Day, Cole started preschool at Cherry Hills Preschool. He attends five mornings a week from 9:00-11:30. I'm thrilled (and pleasantly surprised) to report that Cole enjoys going to school! I wasn't sure how he would react to a five-day program.

This preschool provides tote bags for the kids to use as school bags. Here is Cole showing off his artistic work before heading to his first morning at Cherry Hills Preschool.

After the first full week of school, the entire Cherry Hills Preschool met at the Children's Museum in Decatur for a fun field trip. Cole had a ton of fun!

The airplane has always been a favorite for Cole.

We went through the senses exhibit several times.

Cole thought it was hilarious to press his face through these sticks.

This visit, Cole spent a lot of time in the climbing structure. I was thankful that there is not an exit to the second floor since Kieran was sleeping peacefully in the stroller.

Bubble fun!

After having fun at the museum, everyone walked over to the playground outside of the zoo for a picnic and more play. This was the only picture I snapped at the playground because Cole was having so much fun running around with his new friends.

Labor Day Weekend 2010

While Curt was on call, the boys and I spent part of Labor Day weekend in Rankin with Nana, Papa, Aunt Shannon, and Josh. We spent Saturday afternoon at the Sweetcorn Festival.

Caden and Cole were very excited to spend an afternoon on carnival rides. Jumping in the bungy harnesses was one of their favorites. They felt like they were flying and LOVED it! Other favorites were the big slide and the funhouses, but I don't have any pictures of those.

Caden rode a few rides solo because Cole declared them too scary this year even though he rode them last year. Cole wouldn't ride the kiddie dragon coaster, but he rode the tilt-a-whirl with Papa and Caden. (I don't even attempt to understand his reasoning.)

Cole rode this tame octopus while Caden rode a "scary" ride.

while Cole devoured this mess of an ice cream cone.

And this is what Kieran did during the festival...slept peacefully.

On Sunday, we enjoyed the beautiful weather in Nana & Papa's backyard. While I was feeding Kieran, Josh taught Caden and Cole how to climb a tree. Both boys were super proud of themselves! No one was injured, so I was happy for them too.

Fun family weekend with gorgeous weather!

Soccer Season & Summer Visitors

We're in the middle of another soccer season. This time around, the difference is that both Caden AND Cole are playing. After watching Caden play soccer for several seasons, it is finally time for Cole to join in the fun. He seems to enjoy running around with the other kids. When he is not too worn out from the day's activities, he does a pretty good job going after the ball.

Cole kicking a goal

Cole loves playing goalie, and he's pretty good at blocking goals. Since he has no fear of injuring himself, he'll dive down to block goals without hesitation.

Cole is #5.

Caden is enjoying another season of soccer. His team is undefeated right now. Caden is playing defense on the left side of the photo.

Caden is #10.

At the end of August, we enjoyed a visit from Aunt Charlene and Uncle Fred from Vermont. It was too hot to play outside, so we spent the day inside--reading, playing games, making art projects, and catching up. It was a great day!

Kieran is one month old.

It's hard to believe that a month has already passed! Here is Kieran at one month. He weighed 10 lbs. 13 oz. at his check-up (really at 5 weeks). He measured 23 inches long, but he was moving quite a bit so the accuracy is questionable. Regardless, Kieran is GROWING! (Because I know relatives will ask, Caden weighed 7 lbs. 15 oz. and Cole weighed 10 lbs. 6 oz. at one month.) Kieran is our biggest and most easygoing baby so far.

Kieran is starting to take an interest in his toys. He loves to watch his brothers and ceiling fans.

Kieran seems to have fallen into a natural sleep schedule. It would be nice if that continued! He has a pretty set sleepy time in the morning and one in the afternoon. It is hard to put him down for naps because he is so snuggly, but he will sleep nicely without being held (couldn't say that for Cole!). Thankfully, he doesn't have his nights and days mixed up so far, sleeping 4-5 hours at a time at night. He even slept for a seven-hour stretch once!

Hanging out in the sunroom with Nana

Kieran will let you know if he wants you to stand up while holding him. He'll grunt and stretch his legs out, and then calm down instantly when you give in.

I love how chunky Kieran looks in this photo! Here he is ignoring my attempts to wake him up. He was having an especially sleepy afternoon, and I was worried what that meant for our night. Kieran didn't care though!

Such a blessing!

Caden is a first grader!

Caden started first grade at Chatham Elementary this morning. Really? Where did the time go? I cannot believe he is in first grade. (Will I say that at the beginning of every school year? Yes!)

Caden is riding the school bus for the first time this year. He was so excited. Their Indy school did not have bus service, and he was bummed about that last year. Sending Caden off on a bus will be quite an adjustment for me because I'm used to walking Caden to his classroom every morning and chatting with the other parents and teachers. The bus stop is just two blocks away, so it will be a quick walk in the morning (or ride in the rain and winter). Here is Caden waiting for the bus with Curt and Kieran in the background.

So excited and ready to get back to school!

Off to first grade...

First half day was a success! Caden was so happy to get out of the house on his own and meet new kids. Full days start tomorrow. The bus will pick him up at 7:39 and drop him off at 3:38. I have a feeling that we'll have a happily worn out first grader.
