In July, we took a trip to Louisville and Holiday World.
First stop was Benton to visit Grammy and Grandpa for a few days.

Enjoying some Tropical Sno...So many flavors to choose from, even dill pickle which was very tempting |

After our stay in Benton, we drove over to Louisville, Kentucky to visit the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory. Great museum! We all enjoyed our time there--the factory tour, Topps baseball card exhibit, and lots of baseball memorabilia! It was worth the trip.
The boys held game-used bats of three players. Exactly which three players is up for debate. Derek Jeter, Mickey Mantle, Stan Musial? Our memories are failing all of us. That's what I get for being four months behind on photos.
Possibly Derek Jeter's bat |
Cole is pretty sure he held Stan Musial's bat. |
I am thinking that Kieran picked the same as Cole, but I could be very wrong. |

After touring the museum, we left Louisville and headed for Holiday World. A first for our family, we rented an RV at Lake Rudolph. I highly recommend Lake Rudolph. It is right next to Holiday World, so the location is super convenient.
We roasted hot dogs and marshmallows before a storm came on the first night. |
Our transportation between Lake Rudolph and Holiday World--so easy! We missed the nightly decorated golf cart parades due to weather, a visit to our friends' house, and a late night at the park. |
Before the rain chased us inside |
We spent the next day riding rides (both wet and dry) at Holiday World. Such a great amusement and water park! Holiday World lived up to all the hype. The park was very clean. Free drinks all day long were a huge bonus. We could stay hydrated in the heat without lugging around a huge bag. The free sunscreen was a nice perk too. Curt and Caden rode several roller coasters while the rest of us preferred the non-coaster rides.

Patiently waiting to enter the park |
Solo Cole since Kieran and I didn't want to spin |
Cole and Kieran at one of the fun water playgrounds |
Cole was a good big brother and rode the canoe ride with Kieran. |
Cole found out that it took a lot of leg muscle to push down the pedal on the old-fashioned car. |

Yummy funnel cakes! |

Super fun first time at Holiday World |
In the evening, we went to Evansville to visit medical school friends.
The kids acted like no time had passed. Love this crew! |
Day two at Holiday World...rides and more rides until dark
The next day we said good-bye to our home away from home...It was a fun first for our family. It was a pretty big RV with two bathrooms and beds for all of us, plus a kitchen and sitting area.
Before leaving Santa Claus, Indiana, we visited the Santa Claus museum, church, post office, and candy store.

One last stop before heading home...Abraham Lincoln's Boyhood National Memorial in Indiana
The footprint of Lincoln's boyhood home is behind the boys. |
Very enjoyable family getaway! We had so much fun!
