Jovie & Rey

Here is a very long post with photos of our fur babies, Jovie and Rey--ragdoll sisters born November 1, 2015--because they are beyond cute and perfect additions to our family. Jovie has a pink nose and is named after Buddy's girlfriend/wife in Elf. Rey has a a dark nose and is named after the female lead in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

We got the first glimpse of the kittens when they were almost two weeks old.

In December, we got updated photos of our two cuties.

The second Saturday in January, Curt left very early in the morning to pick up our kittens in a suburb of Chicago. According to Curt, Jovie slept and did not make a peep the whole way home. Rey was restless and made some complaints about the situation. Caden was already at his first basketball game of the season, so he was not home when Curt and the kittens arrived. They were SO little! We fell in love with them instantly.

Exploring the main level of the house and meeting Cole and Kieran...

Over the next few days, Jovie and Rey got more comfortable and made themselves right at home. We all became attached to each other pretty quickly. They checked out perfectly healthy at our vet, weighing only 2.5 (Jovie) and 2.6 (Rey) pounds.

New toy from Papa

Jovie found a perfect spot to nap.

Rey found another new hiding spot.

Jovie was pretty pleased with the fact that she figured out how to get up on the bar stools.

Jovie and Rey are always happy when the boys lounge on the couch and take it as an invitation to nap. The boys like that the kittens are so cuddly.

Rough life!

Another new toy...This one is perfectly called a hug-and-kick.

Petco had Star Wars toys. I couldn't resist.

Rey mistakenly thought she could fit in the book basket with Jovie.

Another trip to the vet...They had each gained a pound.

Introducing Jovie to Mia's favorite toy, the hair ring

Jovie tucked herself into Kieran's spot when he was home sick.

Jovie made it up to the top spot of the cat tree, and then considered it her spot for several weeks.

New toys from Grammy...Jovie is playing with Rey's favorite here.

And this is actually Jovie's favorite hedgehog.

Spoiled!

Begging to be picked up...for real, so spoiled

Too comfy for the bed to be made

Jovie looks so silly when she stretches out like this.

Rey, Box Tops assistant

Jovie let Rey have a turn at the top of the cat tree.

Lazy day

Jovie and Rey are fabulous additions to our family. It was a great decision to get sisters! They keep each other company, play well together, and entertain us with their antics. Being together helped them adjust pretty quickly. As a bonus, they sleep peacefully together all night. They have great personalities--very affectionate and playful. Jovie lounges a little more than Rey, but they both have their wild and sleepy times. Jovie prefers to play alone with the ball ring or other toys. Her favorite play activity seems to be hiding and sneaking up on Rey. She doesn't say a whole lot. Her meow is still pretty pitiful. Jovie is our official greeter. She is not shy around strangers. She loves to explore on the screened-in porch. Rey loves to play fetch with her favorite little mice. She is definitely the more vocal one, but she is more nervous than Jovie. She waits to approach new people and is not as brave with new experiences. She scares more easily than Jovie and is not a fan of thunderstorms. Both Jovie and Rey purr loudly and frequently. Pet them, and they will purr! They are attached to their humans, and we are very attached to them!
